About the University

Established in 1865, Cornell University is a private and statutory Ivy League research university in the USA. Cornell has emerged as a technologically innovative institution that applies its research to its campus and public relations. For example, in 1883 it was one of the first college campuses to use electricity from a water dynamo to light the site. The university is affiliated with the Association of American Universities (AAU), the State University of New York and the Association of Public & Land-Grant Universities (APLU). The Times Higher Education World University Rankings place Cornell at #20, and at #11 in US Colleges Rankings for the year 2022. 

The university’s main campus is located in Ithaca and has 608 buildings spread across 2300 acres of land. Cornell University is famous for providing a range of higher educational degrees across many disciplines. Cornell has an amazing infrastructure with unique buildings, classic columns, and a massive arch at the entrance. Cornell also offers special programs in Business Inclusion and Diversity, Societal Solutions Scholars, Food Marketing Fellowship, Leadership Development, Intercultural and International Management. In addition to its excellent academic facilities, it has eight faculties for undergraduate studies and four for graduate and professional studies. Cornell's architecture program is one of the oldest, most respected, and globally acclimated. Cornell offers 80 majors and 100 fields of graduate study, with opportunities for further exploration in 18 minors. Some of the popular courses include Psychology, Engineering, Business Management, and Computer Application. Cornell is also renowned globally as it awarded the world's first degree in journalism; the United States' first degree in veterinary medicine, and the first doctorate in industrial and Electrical Engineering. The courses are designed to make students skilled and trained professionally in specific domains. Accomplishments and Alumni Since 2008, Cornell University has certified 26 green buildings on the campus, including 5 LEED Platinum Buildings. 

It was the first University in American history to endow the country's first professorships in American History, Musicology, and Literature.  Cornell University has a strong alumni network of more than 250,000 alumni around the world. Cornell's network of faculty, students, and alumni consists of 47 Nobel Prize Winners, 520 Fulbright Scholars, 62 Fulbright-Hays Scholars for Doctoral Research Abroad, 36 Udall Scholars, 33 Marshall Scholars, and 13 Gates Scholars.
