About the University

Established in 1966, Curtin University was founded as the Western Australian Institute of Technology. A innovative, global university, Curtin is known for its high-impact research and strong networks with the industry that prepares students for the world of work. It is affiliated with the Australian Technology Network, the Association of Southeast Asian Institutes of Higher Learning, and the Open Universities Australia. Curtin University ranks among the top 1% of the universities worldwide. It ranks  #194 globally by the QS World University Rankings, 251-300 by the Times Higher Education World University Rankings, and #156 by the US News & World Report Best Global Universities for the year 2022. 

Infrastructure, Campuses, and Courses Curtin University has 5 campuses in Australia and 4 international campuses in Dubai, Malaysia, Singapore, and Mauritius. The main campus, which is also the largest, is located in the suburb of Bentley, which is in the southeast of central Perth. The Perth campus of Curtin University is a bold 1960s Architecture, beautifully nestled in landscaped green stretches. The University also has over 80 international partner institutions in more than 20 countries worldwide, offering plenty of international exchange opportunities for the students, besides a global network for researchers. Curtin University offers more than 150 courses in the fields of Engineering, Architecture, Agriculture, Business, Law, and many more.

Accomplishments and Alumni Since Its 56 years of founding, Curtin University has had a long road of accomplishments. It was the first University of Technology in Australia. A research-intensive university, its students being the only ones in a Western Australian university who has won the Australian Institute of Nuclear Science and Engineering’s Postgraduate Student Gold Medal. In 2019, the University reported the Best Graduate Outcomes in Western Australia, with the highest number of undergraduates finding employment after graduation. In fact, 53.3% of Western Australia’s undergraduates report Curtin to be their first preference among the Universities. Curtin University has also had a long list of notable alumni like Judy Davis (Australian actress), Cody Fem (Australia Actor and Director), John Butler (Musician), Natalia Cooper (Journalist for Nine News at the Nine Network Sydney), Jessica De Gouw (Actress), and many more.

Student Diversity and Visiting Companies Curtin University enrols more than 13,000 International students every year which comprise more than 25% of its overall student body. Students from more than 100 countries study at Curtin University. With its international campuses, Curtin University enables its students to travel abroad to study into countries with completely different cultures. Curtin fosters gender and cultural inclusivity, making it one of the most diverse campuses in Australia. It has also been awarded the Athena SWAN Bronze award for promoting gender equity among the STEM programs taught at the University.
