Located in the city of Leicester, England in the UK, De Montfort University (DMU) is a thriving university with a long and illustrious history of enhancing people's lives through education. Founded in 1870 as the Leicester School of Art, the institution has gone by several names throughout the years, including Leicester Colleges of Art and Technology and Leicester Polytechnic. On June 26, 1992, Leicester Polytechnic became De Montfort University. The name was chosen to honour the university's long relationship with Leicester by honouring the illustrious Simon de Montfort, Earl of Leicester, a key figure in mediaeval history who founded the first parliament in 1265. The university is affiliated with the Association of Commonwealth Universities, EUA, and Universities UK. THE World University Ranking 2022 places the university between #601-800 and the QS World University Rankings places it between #801-1000. Furthermore, Guardian 2022 and The Complete University Guide's University League Tables 2022 rank the university at #118 and #101 respectively at the National University Rankings.

The Campus Centre, which serves a variety of tasks and provides a wide range of services, was finished in September 2003. The three-story structure was designed by Ellis Williams Architects, who also designed the Baltic Centre for Contemporary Art in Gateshead. It cost £8.5 million to build on the site of the former Stibbe building and is an important part of the university's 'Masterplan,' which aims to revitalise the Leicester campus environment. The Centre for Computing and Social Responsibility, the Centre for Reproduction Research, the Centre for Urban Research and Austerity, the Cinema and Television History Research Institute and the Cyber Technology Institute are all internationally renowned research institutes at De Montfort University. The university delivers more than 100 UG courses and more than 70 Master's programs in the domain of business and management, law, architecture, pharmacy, corsetry, footwear, design, human sciences, media, engineering, computer science, science, and social sciences. More than 170 courses by De Montfort University are accredited by professional bodies, allowing students to earn considerable exemptions from professional requirements following graduation. Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) and The Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) for Accounting and Finance BA (Hons); Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) for Architecture BA (Hons); Chartered Management Institute (CMI) for MBA Global course and others are examples of these accreditations. More than 2,700 international students from around 130 countries enroll at the university each year. The university highly focuses on offering a welcoming and reassuring environment for every student. Students can even seek help from the university's International Student Support Team before, during, and after their stay at DMU. They provide an international welcome week, free airport pick-ups, and a "buddies" programme that pairs new students with a current DMU student to assist them in settling in. The majority of De Montfort University's curricula, including all undergraduate and postgraduate Engineering and Computing courses, include a one-year work internship. This is a paid, full-time placement that is related to a student's education and can be mentioned in the CAS letter.
