Eligibility of East Carolina University

Eligibility for admission as a freshman requires successful completion of the following courses at the time of high school graduation: - Four English courses with emphasis on grammar, composition, and literature. - Algebra I, Geometry, Algebra II, and a higher level mathematics course that has Algebra II as a prerequisite. - Three courses in natural sciences, including one in a living/biological science, a physical science, and a laboratory science. - Two courses in social studies, with one focused on US history. - Two courses in a foreign language, both in the same language (e.g. Spanish 1 & 2). American Sign Language and Latin are accepted at ECU. It is recommended to take additional courses in foreign language, mathematics, and natural sciences during the senior year to better prepare for the freshman curriculum. If you do not meet the above minimum requirements, please refer to the Transfer Admission Guidelines for alternative admission options. Graduates from Cooperative Innovative High Schools (Early Colleges) should also review the Supplemental Notices for relevant information on the application process.
