SIT, which was founded in 1971, is well-known for its Zero Fees Program. Students can save thousands of dollars on their tertiary education costs thanks to the scheme, which is open to New Zealand citizens and permanent residents. The excellence of the Institute's facilities and equipment is likewise well-known. The Public New Zealand Tertiary Education Institution (TEI) is affiliated with the university.
