Eligibility of The Ohio State University

Ohio State University requires all applicants to demonstrate proficiency in English by providing official TOEFL or IELTS Academic test scores. This applies to individuals who do not have a first language in English, have received their education primarily outside of the United States, or have been a permanent resident, asylee, or refugee in the U.S. for less than a year before their first term of enrollment. To be considered official, test scores must be obtained directly from ETS or IELTS by the application deadline. Applicants must meet the minimum scores of 19 on each section of the paper-based TOEFL, 79 on the TOEFL iBT or TOEFL iBT Home Edition, 7.0 on the IELTS Academic test or IELTS Indicator (6.5 for Moritz College of Law applicants), or 105 on the Duolingo test. It is important to note that meeting these minimum scores may not be sufficient for all graduate programs, and in some cases, a higher score may be required. It should also be noted that an admitted student may still be required to take the English placement exam or the Oral Proficiency Assessment for Graduate Teaching Associates, regardless of their test scores.
