The Vancouver Community College was established in 1965 as a result of the merger between the Vancouver School Board's Night School Program, Vancouver Vocational Institute, King Edward Senior Matriculation and Continuing Education Center, and Vancouver School of Art. Presently, VCC has three campus locations, one of which is the Vancouver Community College Broadway situated at 1,155 East Broadway. It began its operations in January 2009 and boasts a state-of-the-art seven-story building that spans 133,000 square feet. The campus primarily caters to the training programs of Health Sciences at VCC, offering an array of full-time and part-time courses in Music and Dance, University Transfer, Academic Upgrading, Design, Hospitality, Baking and Culinary Arts, Hair, Esthetics and Makeup, Instructor Training, Technology, and Apprenticeship Training, to name a few. With an annual budget of $105 million, VCC is recognized as a leading postsecondary education institution in British Columbia.
