Eligibility of Western Illinois University

Freshman Year In order to be eligible for admission, you must have a high school diploma or a certificate that is equivalent to a high school diploma in the United States. Additionally, you must have a minimum grade point average of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale. Please note that all grades and scores will be translated to a scale of 4.0. If you are a non-native English speaker, you will be required to take an English proficiency exam such as TOEFL, IELTS, ITEP, or PTE Academic. Our school code for these exams is 1900. Student Transfer If you are looking to transfer to our university, you must have a cumulative grade point average of at least 2.0 on a 4.0 scale for all college-level coursework attempted. You must also be in good standing at your previous institution. It is important to note that all grades and scores will be translated to a scale of 4.0. If you have completed less than 24 semester hours, you will also need to meet the entrance requirements for freshman students. Similar to freshman applicants, non-native English speakers will need to demonstrate their English proficiency by taking one of the approved exams mentioned above.
