It will assess the ability to listen, read, write and speak in English and is designed to help you work, study or migrate to a country where English is the native language. IELTS is graded on a scale of 1-9. Some major countries that accept IELTS are Australia, Canada, New Zealand, the UK and USA. Within a span of 3 hours, the assesses listening, reading, writing, and speaking skills are tested. Academic and General Training are the two types of IELTS.

However it is ideal to spend at least 6-8 weeks preparing for the IELTS exam with special focus on basic grammar, reading speed, test strategies and writing skills.
A total of 48 fixed test dates are available in one calendar year or 4 times in a month. The availability of IELTS dates in India may differ for the academic and general training module
The exam is offered across 50+ cities in India. There is no admit card provision for the same.
The candidate will receive only ONE original Test Report Form (TRF). For paper based, results are released 13 calendar days after the test and for computer based 5-7 calendar days later.
A candidate may request up to 5 additional TRFs to be sent to receiving Institutions(Universities, professional bodies, etc) within 1 month of taking the exam.

The two types are: IELTS Academic and IELTS General Training. Individuals applying for higher education or professional registration in an English-speaking environment need to attempt the IELTS Academic test to assess that they are ready to begin studying or training. Individuals going to English speaking countries for secondary education, work experience or training programs are required to attempt IELTS General Training test to assess basic survival skills in broad social and workplace contexts.
Based on the British Council standards, 9 represents “expert”, 8 signifies “very good” and so on.
The validity of IELTS results is two years from the result declaration date. However, it is also dependent on the organization to set their validity for different purposes.
Based on requirements, Individual organizations recognize different IELTS tests. It is essential to be aware of the version to take while filling the online application form.
There is no restriction on the number of attempts. The test can be taken multiple times for score improvement.
